We have to remember, though, that it is absolutely forbidden to carry away the quartz grains. The origin of the name is related to the god of water, Maimone precisely, to whose cult is also linked the church of San Salvatore, built in the seventeenth century on the ruins of an underground. Near the beach it is also the village of San Salvatore, long used in the sixties and seventies as a movie set from the Cinecitt\u00e0 film crew for shooting westerns.
